Boat Detailing

Boat detailing on Pittwater and the Northern Beaches

Salt and sun leave boats chalky and dull, and we bring the shine back. Full wash, oxidation removal, compounding, polishing and protection for fibreglass and gelcoat, done properly by an experienced detailer.

From trailer boats to superyachts

Brad started out as a slipway hand at a Newport marina and has been detailing boats ever since. Over the years we have detailed Riviera, Sunseeker and Princess motor yachts and thousands of other boats, and worked five Sydney boat shows, where every boat has to be flawless.

Whether your boat lives on a trailer, a mooring or a marina berth around Pittwater, we come to it. There's no need to move the boat: we bring the equipment and the products, and you come back to a boat that looks cared for.

Restoring faded, oxidised gelcoat

Gelcoat is porous. Sydney's UV and salt spray slowly oxidise it until it turns chalky, dull and hard to keep clean. In most cases that damage is only on the surface, and it responds well to machine compounding and polishing.

We cut back the oxidation, refine the finish to a deep gloss, then seal it with a quality protectant or ceramic coating so the shine lasts through the season. We use Starke marine care products, some of the best in the world, chosen for the way they stand up to salt water and sun.

Inside as well as out

Boat detailing doesn't stop at the hull. We polish stainless steel, treat teak decks, clean covers and clears, and detail engine rooms. Marine carpet and upholstery are cleaned with steam and hot water extraction, the same methods we have used on superyachts around Sydney.

Boat Detailing FAQs

Can you polish an old, faded boat?

In most cases, yes. Oxidised gelcoat responds well to machine compounding and polishing. Shiny Detailing cuts back the chalky surface layer, polishes the gelcoat to a gloss, then protects it so the finish lasts.

Do you detail boats on moorings and in marinas?

Yes. Shiny Detailing is fully mobile, so we detail boats on moorings, in marina berths, at boat ramps and on trailers around Pittwater, the Northern Beaches and Sydney Harbour.

What size boats do you detail?

Everything from small trailer boats to superyachts. Shiny Detailing has detailed Riviera, Sunseeker and Princess motor yachts and thousands of other boats, including work at five Sydney boat shows.

What products do you use on boats?

We use Starke marine care products, some of the best in the world, for washing, polishing and protecting gelcoat, paint and fibreglass in salt water conditions.
