Ceramic Coating

Ceramic coating for cars, caravans and boats

A durable, glass-like layer that repels water, dirt and UV. Coating protects paint, gelcoat and finishes for years and makes washing easier.

Protection that outlasts wax

Wax and spray sealants wear off in weeks. A ceramic coating bonds to the surface and forms a hard, slick layer that keeps protecting for years with the right care. Water beads and sheets off, dirt and salt have less to grip, and UV fading is slowed right down.

On the Northern Beaches that matters. Coastal air, salt spray and strong sun are hard on paint, gelcoat and fibreglass, whether it's your daily driver, a caravan parked outside or a boat on a mooring.

Preparation is everything

A coating locks in whatever is underneath it, so the surface has to be right first. We wash and decontaminate the paint or gelcoat, then machine polish to remove swirl marks, oxidation and light scratches before the coating goes on.

The result is a deep, glossy finish that is easier to wash and stays cleaner for longer. We will explain how to look after the coating so you get the most out of it.

Ceramic Pro Shine: ceramic spray wax with titanium

We use Ceramic Pro Shine, a water-based SiO2 ceramic spray wax infused with titanium. It leaves a slick, hydrophobic finish with serious shine, and the titanium helps repel strong UV, which counts for a lot under the Australian sun.

It's safe on all vehicles and surfaces, so the same protection works on cars, caravans and boats. It goes on a clean surface, is worked in with a microfibre until it disappears, and is topped up every 30 days for the best protection, which makes it ideal for keeping a finish looking freshly detailed between visits. For boats we also use Revive, an elixir made for watercraft.

Ceramic Coating FAQs

How long does ceramic coating last?

Typically several years with proper care. How long a ceramic coating lasts depends on the product, how the vehicle or boat is stored and how it is washed. Shiny Detailing will tell you the rated life of the coating we recommend for your job.

Can you ceramic coat a boat or caravan?

Yes. Shiny Detailing applies ceramic coatings to cars, caravans, trailer boats and larger boats, protecting paint, gelcoat and fibreglass from salt, dirt and UV.

What ceramic product do you use?

Shiny Detailing uses Ceramic Pro Shine, a water-based SiO2 ceramic spray wax infused with titanium for shine, a hydrophobic finish and UV protection. It is safe on all vehicles and is reapplied every 30 days for the best protection. For boats we also use Revive, an elixir made for watercraft.

Does my paint need polishing before a ceramic coating?

Usually, yes. A coating seals in whatever is underneath, so we wash, decontaminate and machine polish first to remove swirls, oxidation and light scratches. That way the coating locks in a clean, glossy finish.
